"DayOut at Wixteds Wonderland"

Sunday 25th of March 2012 brought out a Galaxy of Speedway Stars, and Cars, at Wixted's Wonderland....After a cloudy start, the huge crowd that attended was blessed with prefect weather.

Naming all the greats of yesteryear, was just about an impossible task; as there were so many Champions, so much happy talk, reminiscing of day's gone by. One could really start to name drop, as you looked around this perfect setting that Judy and Barry had rolled out for all to enjoy.

To have seen these Champions in days before, in full protected gear on the track, in such well presented and finely tuned cars, the drivers all in Indian File waiting for the green light to flash. Then, when the Solo's Riders turn came, in full leather gear, testing a full throttle, and  just waiting for the white tapes to fly, with the speed of grease lighting, so they too; could make their mark in history!

Now, on the 25th of March 2012, with time marching on, we all reflect back on the excitement, the comradeship, the sportsmanship. We see these same guy's in their Civvies, ageing gracefully, just so relaxed, and enjoying one another's company, "Wixteds Wonderland" did just that.

The day is one we'll always remember, there was so much to enjoy. For starters; Judy and Barry home has so much to offer, like the heady days of Exhibition Speedway, it kept people spell bound for hours. The seven Midget speedcars on display were immaculately presented, and also a Solo motorbike, all proudly presented by there owners; for which we all give three cheers! The smell of the BBQ had our taste buds tingling, made by the ladies of the club under the care of Norma Rogers. Also an afternoon tea to die for. There was lucky door prizes,  and the raffles kept rolling, which will all assist with raising funds to keep our finances in, "Tip Top" condition.

This was a day not to miss! The only losers, were folk who were not there. To walk; and talk with these gentle giants from Speedway, who had entertained the thousand's of people each, and every Saturday-night in their Mighty Midgets with the style, class and technical know-how showing the grace of Champion's that they are. We were all made feel very humble. The only thing missing on the day, was the smell of high octane fuel; but with these beautifully presented cars on display, who really needed that!

Now, if you miss this brilliant day....There's another one in the planning at Rocklea Showgrounds on 22nd of April; 9am to 4pm.....Show your support by joining the fun, and come along!

"T.E.C. Pusher Restoration"Geoff & Lynn Brown are progressing well from

all reports, Paul O'Dea often helps out.

A lot more rust than anticipated has been found

which is being cut out & new metal put in.

The radiator has been removed & sent to the

radiator works for cleaning.

Brake cylinders are removed & repair work

carried out.

This project is as big as a speedcar restoration

lots of work & many man hours.

It will be marvelous for the pusher & the VSAQ

to have the machine in top condition again.
